Security

E-Services of Bank J. Safra Sarasin are simple, convenient and safe to use. In addition to technical measures provided in E-Services, the way you behave and the system you use is crucial as well.
To ensure the maximum level of security possible, you can contribute by observing the following simple rules.
Working securely with E-Services
Your system
  • Use a reliable computer or mobile device such as a mobile phone or tablet with the latest service and security updates.
  • Make sure you use the latest version of anti-virus software with automatic updates.
  • Make sure you use an active firewall and your internet browser is set on a high security level.
  • Do not use rooted/jail broken mobile devices for Mobile Banking.
  • Use your browser’s "Private Mode" (also known as "InPrivate", "Incognito" and "Private Browsing"). For more details, see below under "Logging out/Private mode").

Monitoring/alerts
In E-Banking, under the menu item "Services – Alerts" you can set up e-mail or SMS alerts to notify you of any changes in your account(s).
Logging out/Private mode
Correct termination
Always terminate your E-Services session correctly by using the "Log off" function/button.
Using the browser’s private mode
When using your browser’s “Private Mode” (also known as “InPrivate”, “Incognito” and “Private Browsing”), no data are loaded into cache memory and no permanent cookies are stored. This means there is no need to delete the contents of the browser’s cache.
The following key combinations start private mode in the different browsers:
  • Internet Explorer: [Crlt]+[Shift]+[P]
  • Firefox: [Crlt]+[Shift]+[P]
  • Chrome: [Crlt]+[Shift]+[N]
  • Apple Safari: [Command]+[Shift]+[N]
Alternatively, you can enable private mode from your browser’s menu.

1. Keep your system up to date
Every operating system contains weaknesses that could affect the security of your system. Software producers therefore offer regular updates or patches to close potential security loopholes.
  • To make sure your system is always fully protected, use the latest version of your operating system and browser and apply all available service and security updates.
  • Never install programs from unknown sources: they could contain viruses or other malware.

2. Anti-virus software
Anti-virus software protects the data on your system from viruses, Trojan horses, worms and other cyber-risks that can infect your computer via the Internet, e-mail, CD-ROM, DVD, USB stick or other interface.
Even the best anti-virus programs do not offer full protection unless they are regularly updated.
3. Firewall
A firewall monitors all the incoming and outgoing data traffic between your system and the Internet. These programs prevent your system from communicating with the Internet without your knowledge, e.g. by allowing a virus to reveal a password or another computer to hack into yours.
The best firewall does not offer protection unless it is active.

4. Login
Our E-Services offer the maximum level of security. For this reason the login procedure has three levels of protection: User ID, personal password and a token number for the ActivCard or the SMS login. To log in to the E-Services always use the Internet address www.jsafrasarasin.com.gi and then click on Login E-Services.
Always type in the website address manually, and never use a link.
  • Keep your login information (User ID, personal password and ActivCard) in a safe place
  • The first time you log in you will be asked to change your password.
  • Never disclose your login information (User ID, personal password and ActivCard) to anyone else.
  • The Bank will never contact you and ask for your personal login information or account data.
5. Check the website certificate
Simply having encryption on an Internet link does not necessarily mean you are communicating with the right server. By double clicking on the padlock icon you can check if the certificate is issued for *.jsafrasarasin.com.
6. Password
A password is one of three items required to log in. It is a string of characters selected by the user and known only to him and the system.
  • Your password must be at least 8 characters or longer and use;
    • At least one uppercase letter
    • At least one lowercase letter
    • At least one number
    • At least one special symbol
  • Change your password regularly.
  • Do not use personal details, such as names and dates of birth or words contained in a dictionary.
  • Never write down your password or store it on your computer or mobile end device.
7. Do not open any other Internet pages
While you are logged in to our E-Services never open another Internet page or e-mail at the same time. We also advise you not to access this service when using an unknown system (such as a PC in a public space).
8. Malware – malicious links / e-mail attachments and other cyber-risks
Malware (a combination of malicious and software) refers to computer programs that perform (harmful) functions which the user does not want. These programs usually run covertly in the background and are only noticed by the user when the damage has already been done. Malware is divided into the following categories: viruses, worms, Trojan horses, backdoors and spyware.
  • Do not open any e-mails that you are not expecting and whose sender you do not know.
  • Do not click on any links in e-mails which are supposed to connect you to the login page of your E-Services.
  • Be careful with e-mail attachments.
  • Delete any suspicious e-mails immediately and make sure you clear your “deleted items” afterwards.
9. Terminating your E-Services session correctly
To make sure that you logged off your E-Services session on our server correctly, always use the "Log off" function to terminate the session.
10. Clear your browser cache
